Bromley extends Liberata deal to 2020

Bromley council has extended its contract with Liberata until March 2020, at a potential value of £22m.

The London borough of Bromley has been with Liberata since 2002 – when the initial contract was worth around £50m – and has now extended the contract for two years, with work focusing on digital transformation and citizen portals.

The company already provides the council with 16 different services, including revenue and benefits processing, payroll and finance and accounting, while 81 of the borough’s 96 schools are signed up to Liberata’s school services for payroll, finance and accounting, HR and specialist consultancy services.

Bromley council picks IBT to deliver desktop and datacentre services

The new contract, which has been estimated as worth a potential £22m, will allow Liberata to continue work with the council on its digital transformation programme, and will focus on pushing self-service across revenues and benefits services.

This will increase work to encourage use of the MyBromley portal, which offers residents access to council services and was launched in 2015. Liberata said in a statement that the shift towards greater online interaction would make “significant cost and efficiency savings for Bromley over the coming years”.

Peter Turner, director of finance at Bromley council, said the council had extended the deal because Liberata had demonstrated improved performance against set indicators and already delivered savings for the council.

“Liberata will continue to play an important role in the ongoing digital transformation of council services, while we are committed to deliver value to local people,” he said.

Earlier this year, Bromley signed a £9m contract with BT for provision of desktop and datacentre services, which was through the London-wide procurement framework that aims to consolidate ICT spend and streamline the procurement process to increase efficiency, cut costs and deliver cutting edge technology.
