Flintshire County Council in north Wales has agreed a new five-year contract to extend its use of Proactis’ procurement software suite and utilise the firm’s “Supplier Network” platform.

In 2012 the authority signed up to use a unified suite of source-to-contract solutions to realise savings by automating and streamlining procurement.

The latest deal, announced today (April 6), extends the relationship until March 2021 and will include the provision of  a full range of electronic invoice methods, self-service online transaction status information for suppliers, and an accelerated online payment facility.

Council leader Aaron Shotton said Flintshire’s existing service package from Proactis had already delivered “tangible savings” for the authority and more was expected from the expanded suite.

“We are now adopting the Proactis Supplier Network, which we hope will provide a wide range of electronic connectivity options to streamline our supplier relationships,” he said. 

“We look forward to seeing the potential benefits and passing those benefits on to our suppliers as well as the opportunities to accelerate payment and expand sales with other customers.”

Proactis chief executive Rod Jones said Flintshire had a “forward thinking attitude” to the use of technology to improve the efficiency of its supplier interaction. 

“The Proactis Supplier Network will provide a frictionless method of communication that enables FCC and its suppliers to streamline business processes, improve information quality, reduce administrative costs and provide new commercial opportunities,” he said.

The value of the contract was not disclosed.
