GDS sets out technical work plans for June

The Government Digital Service will this month run a project to improve council tax systems for users, start work on a beta version of content on importing goods and improve its publishing application programming interface.

The GDS said that in the next two to three weeks it would migrate statistics announcement, HTML publications, document collections and fatality notices to the publishing API. It will also add a ‘withdraw’ functionality to the publishing API.

In addition, it will run a one-week project with the Valuation Office Agency to improve user journeys for council tax and business rates and start a six-month project to create a beta version of improved content on importing and exporting goods.

In a blogpost published on 10 June, Hemita Bhatti, business support executive at GDS, set out work done since the GDS’s last update on 26 May and planned work for the next period.

Work done includes a week-long project to improve guidance for government publishers, an update to HMRC’s PAYE software tools and amendments to accessibility wording in Whitehall to make it easier to request documents in accessible formats.
