Energy watchdog seeks £120k digital and tech leader
Ofgem opens recruitment for DDaT boss to develop strategy and set progress roadmap

The UK’s energy regulator Ofgem is recruiting for a newly created position of director of digital, data and technology.
The watchdog, which operates as a non-ministerial department, is offering a salary of £120,000 for a post the job advert describes as a “a key senior leadership position… leading, continuously improving and bringing together Ofgem’s central Digital, Data and Technology functions into one directorate” housing about 150 people.

The successful applicant will be tasked with developing a DDaT strategy and “achieving buy in from key stakeholders”. This will include “aligning a roadmap of activities and ensuring the right operating model is in place to realise the strategic vision and ensuring delivery is aligned to Ofgem’s priorities”, according to the advert.
The role also comes with a remit “for fostering and developing the [DDaT] profession across Ofgem and in line with the wider civil service profession model”.
The tech leader will work with other parts of government and with the regulator’s supplier partners and will be expected to spearhead a “drive for efficiencies and value for money in delivering existing services, capital expenditure, and projects and ensuring effective procurement, contract management and the right workforce mix”.
Applications are open until 11.55pm on 23 April, and the chosen candidate will be based in Cardiff, Glasgow or London.
