The role, which sits within GCS’s Applied Data and Insight team, offers “the opportunity to play a vital role in informing communications from across government”, according to the job advert.

The successful applicant will assume responsibility for “ensuring that communications and campaigns benefit from data, analytics and data science expertise to quickly test and learn, optimise, evaluate and improve impact”.

The postholder will serve as a “key advisor” to senior managers of GCS, which is based in the Cabinet Office. The analytics chief will “assure and advise on a diverse range of high-profile” campaigns.

The job advert said: “The launch of the GCS Strategy 2022-2025 sets our vision to harness the rapid technological changes in communications for the public good, whilst developing our talent with unparalleled opportunities for learning and development. All whilst carrying out interesting, meaningful and purposeful work.”

It added: “Key to our work is collaborating across boundaries and taking a genuinely diverse and inclusive approach; communicating with and being representative of our audiences in all four corners of the UK. Data and insights are essential to everything we do. As an expert from one of the analysis or digital, data and technology professions, you will be at the forefront of ensuring we can deliver our ambitious strategy.”

Applications for the role – which will be based in London, York, or Glasgow – are open until 11.55pm on 19 February.

The post comes with a salary of between £61,710 and £66,614 outside London, or up to £72,295 if the chosen candidate is based in the capital.
