Digital leaders within government have the chance to win one of eight places to attend the next Open Data Leaders Network in February.

The Open Data Institute will award up to eight fully and partially funded places for officers who have implemented open data initiatives.

The third cohort of the network (two were appointed in January and July this year) will meet in London from 22 to 26 February. Leaders from government organisations attended from countries including Malaysia, Buenos Aires, New Zealand, Tanzania and the UK.

A statement from the ODI said: “The network offers a space for sharing knowledge and ideas, sharing common challenges, best practices and learning between peers.

“The network has been described by existing members as ‘a source of renewal and energy’ and ‘a way to step back and say you’re not alone.”

Partially funded places, covering programme costs only, are up for grabs for applicants from developed countries.

Applicants from developing countries, including travel and accommodation costs, are available for those working in developing countries.

The ODI said it was looking for candidates holding a “key position within government with responsibility for implementing their national, city or regional open data agenda”.

They should also have innovative ideas about the future of open data and have a network of connections with peers from around the world and make positive contributions to the community.
