Worcestershire County Council is recruiting for an IT and digital chief to use technology to deliver innovation – in defiance of a budget that the authority acknowledges is diminishing.
The council is advertising a vacant post as assistant director for IT and digital. The successful candidate, who will report into the director of commercial and change, will be a key member of Worcestershire’s newly created “chief officer group”, according to the job advert.

The assistant director will hold responsibility for managing an annual revenue budget of £9.16m, alongside a capital investment pot of £3m. The IT chief will also oversee a total of 83 engagements with suppliers, as well as heading up a team of about 80 full-time equivalent staff.
The council said: “The postholder will be expected to deliver sustainable and transformational improvements across the council, developing strong and effective partnerships with other public, private and third-sector organisations in support of delivery of these strategies and plans and commission effective services that see the desired outcomes being implemented.”
Applications for the position are open [6] until 5pm on 6 January. A salary has not been specified.
