The Department for Work and Pensions has awarded a contract worth a potential £10m to better manage its estate of applications.

The deal with US-headquartered cloud monitoring firm Dynatrace came into effect on 31 December. It runs for an initial term of two years, at a value of a little over £4.9m.

This could be extended for a further period of 24 months, to take the worth of the deal up to a potential £9.8m.

Dynatrace, which has a UK base in Maidenhead, has been tasked with helping the DWP monitor and manage software to help maximise performance.

“DWP requires a strategic application performance management tooling capability to allow full-stack visibility across all DWP’s applications and also real user monitoring, allowing knowledge of the applications user’s experience,” the department said.

It added that it requires a service that cover its entire estate, including both front- and back-end applications

“The capability must allow for full stack management of the applications for DWP to have full visibility of how the user population is experiencing a specific digital service provision,” the department said.

Dynatrace describes it technology as “the industry’s most complete, all-in-one software Intelligence platform, comprising application performance monitoring, infrastructure monitoring, digital experience and business analytics with a deterministic AI engine at the heart of the solution”.
