The figures, which are usually released every month, have not been published since March, meaning the increase covers a longer time period than normal.

The previous sales figures had overall G-Cloud sales at £1.14bn, which was an increase of £87m since the previous set of figures were released in February.

To date, 53% of the total sales by value and 62% by volume were sold to small and medium-sized businesses.

Some 77% of the total sales by value have been awarded through central government, a total of around £960m, while just 5% of total sales by value were through local government – around £68m.

The latest release includes some of the biggest local government spending in 2016 to date, including a £139,500 from Bassetlaw District Council for a Platform as a Service from the SME Meritec and £104,970 from Bristol City Council on Software as a Service from GovTech Solutions, both of which returned in May 2016.

Meanwhile, the Government Digital Service also published data for its Digital Services framework – a site where small businesses can offer services to public bodies – showing sales reached £68m in June.

Of these, 40% were awarded to small businesses and 73% by value were sold through central government.

The Digital Services framework was switched off earlier this month, after the GDS replaced it with Digital Outcomes and Specialists.
