Leader sought for newly established unit

HM Revenue and Customs is seeking a senior manager for a new specialist strategy team dedicated to helping the department get the most out of data.
The department’s chief data office function has established a Data Strategy and Governance unit, the role of which will be to “provide strategic leadership and governance to ensure HMRC properly governs, manages and exploits its data to improve revenues, transform tax and payments”.
A leader is being sought to “build a professional, experienced, and engaged team” to deliver this objective.
The position comes with a salary of up to £73,000 and a remit to “steer HMRC towards data maturity” and “promote a data-driven culture” across the department.

The successful candidate will be charged with putting in place “an HMRC data governance framework including data policy, standards and adoption of industry best practice in alignment with our regulatory framework”. The postholder will also oversee risk-management throughout the department’s digital and data function.
The role will be based at one of HMRC’s regional hubs and specialist centres in Salford, Bristol, Leeds, Cardiff, Newcastle, Worthing, Telford, Edinburgh.
