The Parliamentary Digital Service (PDS) is recruiting a director of information security, a new SCS pay band 1 role, expected to ‘mature and evolve’ technology security in both the House of Commons and the Lords.

In a letter with the job advert, PDS managing director David Smith said the successful applicant “will play a critical role in managing the change process required to mature and evolve the information security capability for Parliament” and be responsible for leading and implementing its enterprise information security programme. “If you have the energy and drive to be part of our journey, we’d love to hear from you,” he added.

The job, based in Westminster, is a 24 month post that may be extended or made permanent and has a non-contractual minimum assignment duration of 18 months. The salary is between £75,953 and £95,964. Applications close this Sunday, 4 September.

The role is one of several senior security technology jobs currently open. The Government Digital Service (GDS) is advertising for a head of data security for the Cabinet Office’s Central Digital and Data Office, paying £60,500 to £71,000 with the possibility of a further specialist pay allowance. Applications for the job, based in either Bristol or Manchester with the option of some remote or home working, also close on Sunday.

The Department for Work and Pensions is looking for a head of security data science to work within its cyber resilience centre, focused on systems that detect attacks and prevent security incidents. The post, which pays £66,860 to £95,341, can be based at any of six DWP corporate hubs and applications close on Monday 5 September.

The Office for National Statistics is looking for a head of security operations to lead its combined operational security capability and be the primary point of contact on operation security. The salary is £64,100 to £75,600 plus a skills allowance of up to £10,000 with the job based at one of four ONS locations with some remote or home working. Applications close on Tuesday 6 September.
