The Crown Prosecution Service is undertaking an industry consultation ahead of launching a procurement exercise for a potential five-year contract to provide the courts service with a roving fleet of audiovisual equipment to present evidence during trials.
CPS is seeking market input on a planned “tendering opportunity for the temporary installation of court audio and video equipment”. Such equipment must be suitable to be installed for the duration of a trial then removed once the case has completed.

The agency hopes that feedback from suppliers could help shape the specification set out in the tender.
Once a contract notice is published, the CPS will ultimately look to appoint a supplier to a three-year deal worth an initial £1.3m, with the option of two potential 12-month extensions.
“Evidence presented in court can often be delivered through the electronic transmission of audiovisual mediums,” the CPS said. “This can be CCTV footage, graphics of various types and audio recordings captured on a variety of devices. This contract is for the delivery, installation and operation of equipment in court rooms to enable electronically available evidence to be presented for the duration of the case.”
